The Morley Glass Leeds Knights are delighted to announce the re-signing of Canadian defenceman Sam Dunn for the 2026/27 NIHL National League season.


Dunn joined the Knights’ blueline at the end of October last season and quickly established himself as a dependable and composed member of the team. He made his debut in a Yorkshire derby against the Hull Seahawks and wasted little time making an impact, registering an assist on Arturs Mickevics’ goal in what was his first outing at The Castle.


Across 51 appearances in the league, cup and play-off competitions last season, the 28-year-old recorded an impressive 25 points, scoring nine goals and adding 16 assists, whilst playing an important role in all situations for Ryan Aldridge’s side. Dunn’s composure on the puck, strong defensive play and ability to contribute at both ends of the ice quickly made him a fan favourite and an integral part of the Knights’ blue line.


Before making the move to LS11, the 6’2 defenceman spent two seasons with Angle in the Ligue Magnus, France’s top-flight, where he built a reputation as a reliable two-way defenceman. Prior to his time in Europe, he developed his game with Saint Mary’s University, playing in the USports and competing against some of the top university talent in Canada.


Dunn is now set for his first full season in West Yorkshire and is looking forward to building on a successful first campaign in Knights colours.


Speaking on his re-signing, Dunn said: “I am beyond excited to be returning to the Knights for my second season! The energy, atmosphere, and support from the fans at the Castle are second to none, and it's something I'm incredibly proud to be a part of.
Last season showed the character and resilience of this group, and lifting that trophy has only made us even hungrier to achieve more this season. We have a special group of players, big ambitions for the season ahead, and I can't wait to get started. See you at the Castle!”


Head Coach Ryan Aldridge said: “Sam is a big strong D who is very reliable in all areas. He can join the rush, add to offence and played a huge part in our playoff championship. He has an old school hockey mentality and gives everything every night. He is a great team guy and another guy we had to have back!”
