LEEDS KNIGHTS extended their winning run to four games with a maximum haul against Romford Raiders.
The Knights moved up to fifth in the standings - level on points with Milton Keynes Lightning and Peterborough Phantoms - after following up Saturday’s 4-3 win at Romford with a more comfortable 5-2 victory at The Castle.
The Knights head to Milton Keynes this Saturday before hosting Solway Sharks 24 hours later.
On Sunday, the Knights got off to the perfect start when a drive down the middle from Fin Bradon saw him offload to Innes Gallacher on his right who marked his 21st birthday in style by beating Cole Ceci by firing into his top left-hand corner at 2.03.
At 16.04, Liam Peyton then bagged his fifth of the season with a neat, one-time finish from the bottom of the right circle off a feed from behind the goal by Arturs Mickevics.
But a dogged Romford were level before the halfway mark, halving the deficit through Jake Sylvester on a breakaway at 21.08 before he doubled his tally for the night on the powerplay just over eight minutes later.
But Matt Bissonnette then got involved for the Knights, restoring their lead at 34.47 when his shot squeezed through Ceci.
It wasn’t until there were just over 10 minutes remaining that the Knights could breathe more easily, though, Kieran Brown’s shot rebounded straight to Bissonnette who fired into the empty net.
As the Raiders pushed for a way back, Bissonnette then made sure of the points and his hat-trick when he fired a long-range empty-netter with 43 seconds remaining.
On Saturday, the Knights had to twice come from behind before running out 4-3 winners.
Romford broke the deadlock with just 2.35 on the clock when Ewan Hill beat Sam Gospel on the power play.
Gallacher levelled for the Knights with his first of the season at 14.09, but the Raiders made their advantage count for a second time in the 27th minute through Adam Laishram.
On the next penalty kill, however, the Knights themselves prospered, Peyton dragging his team level with a shorthanded goal at 35.47.
The visitors’ superiority continued in the third and they got their reward when Brown put them ahead at 46.33.
A rare power play opportunity was then seized on by the Knights when Bradon doubled his team’s advantage with his sixth of the season at 48.17.
Jarrett Baker fired a power play reply in the 54th minute, but the Knights held out for a deserved win.
